Privacy Policy — The Saddlebred Exchange

The short version: we collect only what we need to run the site. We never see your card number, we don’t use ad trackers, and we never sell your information. Email sammc@thesaddlebredexchange.com and we’ll delete your data.

What we collect

If you browse

Nothing that identifies you. We count how many times each listing is viewed (a simple number per listing, not tied to you). Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

If you create a seller account

Account details: your name and email address, and your password — stored only as a one-way scrambled hash, never in readable form.
Listing content: everything you put in a listing — horse details, photos, video links, upcoming shows, and the barn contact details you choose to show buyers.
Payment records: the amount paid and any promo code used. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to the payment itself.
Security records: sign-in attempts, so we can lock out password guessing.

What’s public

Listings are public by design. The horse details, photos, and the barn name, trainer, phone and email you enter in the listing’s contact section are shown to anyone so buyers can reach you. Your account email isn’t shown unless you also enter it as the listing’s contact email.

How we use it

To run the marketplace: publish and display listings, keep your account secure, and show you your listings.
To send transactional email through our email provider, Resend — confirming your email, password resets, and letting you know your listing is live. We don’t send marketing email without asking first.
To answer you when you contact us, and to prevent fraud and abuse.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers. We share only what’s needed with the services that run the site: Cloudflare (hosting, database and photo storage), Stripe (payments) and Resend (email). We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people from fraud or harm.

Cookies

We use two cookies, both needed for the site to work, and no advertising or tracking cookies:

Session cookie (sx_session) — keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.
Draft cookie (sx_draft) — remembers the listing you’re working on so you can pick up where you left off.

Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout page to process payments and prevent fraud.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and listings while your account is open. Unpaid draft listings may be deleted after a while. Payment records may be kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Deleting your data

Email sammc@thesaddlebredexchange.com from your account email and we’ll delete your account, listings and photos (except records we have to keep by law). You can also ask us what we hold about you, or to correct it.

Children

The Exchange isn’t meant for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date at the top and let account holders know.
